Colfer’s series is entertaining, full of wacky ideas and strange and hilarious characters. It has been compared to the Harry Potter series—but it’s also a mixture of Fantômas, Arsène Lupin, James Bond, Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones.
Holly/Solace is both an angry and a quite charming girl. She is coming of age, and this is always tough—even tougher in her case. During her journey, you fear for her, you laugh with her, you’re amazed and you’re worried. Even though much of the plot sounds grim, this is a story with a positive outlook, well-written and featuring a truly interesting character— withdrawn yet self-confident.
